FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team clinched at least a share of the Summit League regular season title with a 95-59 thumping of Kansas City on Saturday afternoon inside the Scheels Center.
Â
This is NDSU's fifth Summit League regular season championship and the 15th conference title in school history. The Bison improved to 23-6 overall and 13-1 in the league, matching the 2008-09 squad for the best 14-game Summit League start in school history.
Â
Sophomore
Treyson Anderson finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Bison.
Damari Wheeler-Thomas scored 16,
Noah Feddersen scored 15, and
Andy Stefonowicz posted 13 points and a career-high 11 assists for a double-double.
Â
The Bison raced out to an early lead and held a 30-point halftime advantage at 56-26. NDSU stretched the margin as large as 43 points in the second half.
Â
Anderson and Wheeler-Thomas both drained four three-pointers in the contest. NDSU made 17-of-39 (44 percent) from beyond the arc.
Â
NDSU previously captured Summit League regular season championships in 2009, 2014, 2015 and 2020.
Â
NDSU will play at second-place St. Thomas on Thursday, Feb. 26, before hosting North Dakota in the regular season finale on Saturday, Feb. 28. One more Bison win, or one St. Thomas loss, would seal the regular season title outright for NDSU.
