Former North Dakota State men's basketball standout Grant Nelson signed a 10-day contract with the NBA's Brooklyn Nets on Friday.
Â
Nelson becomes the first former Bison to claim a spot on an active NBA roster in-season.
Â
Nelson, who played three seasons at NDSU from 2020-23, previously signed an Exhibit-10 contract with the Nets last June and was assigned to their NBA G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets. In 2023, Nelson led NDSU in points (19.9 ppg), rebounds (9.8 rpg), assists (2.4 apg), blocks (1.7 bpg) and steals (1.1 spg) – both for Summit League play, and for the entire season.
Â
Nelson is vying to become the first Bison to play in an NBA regular season game.
