FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team posted an emphatic 96-63 victory over North Dakota in the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon.

Attendance was a new Scheels Center record of 5,426.

The Bison improved to 24-7 overall and finished 14-2 atop The Summit League. NDSU's 24 wins mark a new regular season record for the modern era, surpassing the 2008-09 and 2013-14 Bison squads that won 23 games in the regular season.

Tay Smith scored a career-high 28 points to lead all players, hitting seven three-pointers.
Damari Wheeler-Thomas added 19 points, and
Andy Stefonowicz had 15 points and six assists.

The Bison shot 57 percent for the game, including 55 percent (16-of-29) from beyond the arc.

UND led 17-8 nine minutes into the contest, but NDSU closed the game with an 88-46 run.

The Bison will be the No. 1 seed for the Summit League Tournament in Sioux Falls, S.D., next week. NDSU will play the winner of No. 8 seed Oral Roberts and No. 9 seed Kansas City in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 5, at 6 p.m.
