FARGO, N.D. – Denver pulled out a 78-71 road win over the North Dakota State men's basketball team on Thursday night at the Scheels Center, dealing the Bison their first loss in Summit League play. NDSU fell to 19-6 overall and 9-1 in the league.

The Pioneers snapped NDSU's nine-game win streak, which was tied for the eighth-longest active streak in the nation. NDSU had won 13 straight home games going into Thursday's contest – also a streak that ranked among the top 15 in the country.

Denver built an 11-point lead in the first half, and reached that same margin two more times in the second half. The Bison methodically chipped away to tie the game at 55-55 with 9:30 remaining.

NDSU led 63-62 with 5:30 left, but Denver scored the next six points to go up 68-63. The Bison could not pull even the rest of the way.

Denver shot 51 percent for the game, compared to 40 percent for the Bison. NDSU made 6-of-20 (30 percent) from beyond the arc.

Markhi Strickland led the Bison with 19 points and six rebounds.
Noah Feddersen added 13 points and six boards.

The Bison host Omaha on Saturday at 1 p.m.
