NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After an adjusted start time due to afternoon thunderstorms, the North Dakota State baseball team fell short at Vanderbilt, 10-0, on Saturday night at Hawkins Field.
The Commodores (10-6) plated four runs over the first four innings to build a 4-0 lead after Chris Maldonado lifted a two-run home run to left field. Vanderbilt then added two more runs in the fifth inning with an RBI ground out from Braden Holcomb and an RBI single off the bat of Tommy Goodin. The Commodores put the game out of reach in the eighth plating four runs on two hits to close out the 10-0 run-rule win.
The Bison (1-13) notched four hits as a team with
Blake Timmons,
Colten Becker,
Evan Gustafson and
Kaden Connor each delivering one.
Brayden Marks (1-2) made the start tossing one strikeout with two walks over 4.2 innings.
Sheamus Ryan added 2.2 innings of relief with three strikeouts and two walks.
NDSU will conclude its series at Vanderbilt tomorrow. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
