NDSU Men’s Basketball Signs Kaden Tate

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball program added junior college transfer Kaden Tate to its 2026 recruiting class, head coach David Richman announced Thursday, April 16.

Tate is a 6-foot-6 forward from Pearland, Texas, who played the 2025-26 season at Des Moines Area Community College in Boone, Iowa, after spending his freshman season at Iowa Lakes CC.

"We are thrilled to have Kaden join our Bison Family," said Richman. "He comes from a winning culture at DMACC, and his abilities to defend and rebound at a high level fit perfectly into our defensive system. Bison fans are going to love watching this young man when he gets out in the open court."

Tate was named an NJCAA second team All-American and the ICCAC Defensive Player of the Year this season. He led the league in blocks, finished second in rebounding, and ranked third in the league for steals.

Tate helped DMACC to an overall record of 33-3, an undefeated conference season, and a trip to the NJCAA D-II national tournament. He averaged 10.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.2 blocks, and 2.0 steals per game, shooting 66 percent overall.

NDSU swept the 2026 Summit League regular season and tournament championships and earned its sixth NCAA Tournament berth since 2009.
