SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The North Dakota State women's basketball team led the Summit League with three Academic All-League Team selections.
Marisa Frost and
Molly Lenz were selected to the team for the first time in their careers, while
Avery Koenen earned a spot for the second straight season.
Frost has a 4.0 GPA in exercise science and started all 34 games. The Lino Lakes, Minn., native posted a team-high and career-best 52 steals to go along with 12.7 points per game. Frost was also named to the All-Summit League Second Team and CSC Academic All-District Team.
Lenz posted a 4.0 GPA in psychology and started all 34 games. The Victoria, Minn., native led the Bison with 55 three-pointers this season and shot 40.7 percent from three. She was also named to the CSC Academic All-District Team earlier this season.
Koenen has a 4.0 GPA in physical education and started all 34 games with a career-best 19.4 points per game, which ranked third in the Summit League. Koenen also led the league and ranked seventh in the nation with 21 double-doubles. Earlier this season, Koenen was tabbed an AP All-America Honorable Mention, Summit League Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, while being named to the All-Summit League First Team, All-Defensive Team, All-Tournament Team and CSC Academic All-District Team.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League Team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions.
Nominations are brought forth by sports information directors from the league's institutions that carry women's basketball, and voting is conducted by both the SIDs and facility athletic representatives (FARs). Each team is made up of the five student-athletes receiving the most votes.
