Claire Stern announced her medical retirement from basketball before the start of the 2025-26 season. The Maple Grove, Minn., native appeared in 32 games off the bench and logged 13.7 minutes per game in her freshman season. She averaged 4.1 points with 2.7 rebounds per game and ranked third on the team shooting 82.3 percent from the free throw line. Stern also hauled in 86 rebounds, including 52 on the defensive end. She was named to the 2024-25 Summit League All-Academic Team.

Prior to NDSU, Stern was a four-year letterwinner at Maple Grove Senior High School. She was the sixth-rated prospect in Minnesota on prepgirlshoops.com and an All-Conference selection in her junior season. Stern helped her team to back-to-back conference championships in 2021-22 and 2022-23 and was a member of the National Honors Society.
