Former Bison NCAA Division II All-American Nick Magee is in his sixth season serving as the North Dakota State University wrestling director of alumni relations and the Bison Wrestling Club on 2022-23.
Prior to his time back with the Bison, Magee spent five seasons as an assistant coach at Concordia College and coached eight Division III All-Americans and five NCAA West Region champions. During that time, the Cobbers were NWCA National runner-up in 2014, placed third in 2015 and finished fourth in 2016.
A member of North Dakota State’s 2001 NCAA Division II national championship team, Magee compiled a 72-30 record during his career. He placed fourth at the 2004 NCAA tournament to earn All-American honors by finishing fourth. Magee was the 2004 NCAA North Region and North Central Conference champion at 133 pounds. A four-year starter, Magee was a two-time NCAA qualifier. As a senior, in 2005, he was the team captain and MVP of NDSU’s first NCAA Division I squad, and posted a 19-6 record. In addition, Magee was also the 2001 and 2002 Northern Plains Senior Freestyle Champion at 60kgs.
Magee earned his bachelor's degree in physical education from NDSU in 2005, and his master's degree in education from St. Catherine's University in 2012.
Originally from Hudson, Wis., Nick graduated from Hudson High School in 2000 where he was a WIAA Division 1 state runner-up and also a two-time state medal-winner (1998, 2000).
His coaching resume includes NDSU student assistant coach in 2006 and moved to become an assistant coach at Apple Valley High School. Magee helped the Eagles to a 42-2 record and a Minnesota State team title in 2007.
In 2008, Magee became head coach at Fargo North High School. During his four seasons, he coached three state champions, seven state finalists and 21 medal winners. In 2009 and 2010, the Spartans qualified for the North Dakota State Team Competition.
