Kody Morgan rejoined the North Dakota State University football staff in July 2025 as the defensive tackles coach after spending two years at the FBS level with Kent State University, where he was the safeties coach for two seasons and served as defensive coordinator in 2024.
Morgan was the cornerbacks coach at NDSU from 2018 through 2021 before serving as the Bison special teams coordinator and safeties coach in 2022. He spent two seasons as an offensive quality control assistant for the Bison football team in 2016 and 2017 and was part of four NCAA Division I FCS national championships and five Missouri Valley Football Conference championships at NDSU.
North Dakota State led the FCS in passing yards allowed in 2019 with an average of 138.6 yards per game as the Bison went 16-0, and Morgan led the punt return unit that ranked first in the FCS with 23.75 yards per return in the 2020-21 season.
Bison cornerbacks Marquise Bridges and Josh Hayes both earned all-conference honors, and Marques Sigle was named to the MVFC All-Newcomer Team in 2021.
Morgan came to NDSU in February 2016 after spending two seasons at Wisconsin-Stout, where he was the cornerbacks coach in 2014 and the defensive line coach in 2015. He also assisted with coaching and evaluation of UW-Stout's kickoff and punt units.
Morgan was a defensive ends coach and special teams assistant at the University of Mary in 2013 as a graduate student. He coached all-conference pick Troy Guptill, who totaled 12.5 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss.
A four-year starting cornerback from 2008 to 2011 at Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Morgan was part of a conference championship team in 2008. He stayed on as a student assistant coach in 2012 and coached two-time all-conference performer Colton Zimmerman.
Morgan earned a bachelor's degree in math education from UW-Stevens Point in 2012 and completed a master's degree in education at UMary in 2014.
