Box Score MANHATTAN, Kan.--North Dakota State took a six-point lead over Kansas State at halftime, but the taller Wildcats controlled the backboards and hit 5 of 8 three-pointers in the second half to clinch a 70-61 come-from-behind men's basketball victory over the Bison before a crowd of 9,065 at Bramlage Coliseum on Friday, Nov. 19, in the Division I debut for NDSU.
North Dakota State took advantage of Kansas State's cold first-half shooting and played a controlled possession game to limit the Wildcats in the opening half. The Bison led 29-23 at the break behind nine points from Myron Green and seven from Andy Kelchen, including his first career made three-pointer.
NDSU led until the the 11:27 mark of the second half when 6-foot-7 forward Jeremiah Massey got to free-throw line and hit back-to-back foul shots to put the Wildcats up 42-41.
A tip-in by Massey on K-State's next possession gave the 'Cats a 44-41 lead and the Bison would not come back.
Massey finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds, both game highs. Kelchen finished with 15 points to lead the Bison despite being shut out for about a 10-minute stretch in the second half. David Erbes had 14 points for the Herd and Green finished with 11.
Both teams shot 50 percent in the last half. K-State was 8 of 10 at the free-throw line and had a 23-10 advantage on the boards in the second half.
North Dakota State is scheduled to close out the road trip Sunday afternoon at Denver. The Bison and Pioneers tip off at 2 p.m. MT.
