Dobmeier Scores Career-High 19 as North Dakota State Defeats Northern State

ABERDEEN, S.D.--Adam Dobmeier scored a career-high 19 points to lead North Dakota State to a 72-66 men's basketball win over Northern State on Saturday, Dec. 4, before a crowd of 4,589 at Wachs Arena.

Dobmeier scored 10 in the first half as the Bison (2-3) played the Wolves (5-3) to a 38-all tie at halftime.  There were six lead changes in the second half before Andy Kelchen's jumper with 10:25 to play put NDSU ahead for good.

Northern State shot 51.5 percent in the opening half, but was limited to only eight field goals on 24 attempts (33.3 percent) in the second half.  The Bison had 12 points off of Northern State turnovers in the second half.

Bison forward Myron Green and guard Matt Gerber, who made his first collegiate start as NDSU went with three guards at tipoff, each scored 12 points for the Herd.  Green had a career-high four assists and Bison guard Phil Hahn also had four.

Northern State's Matt Hammer had 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Wolves.  Green was NDSU's top rebounder with eight.  The Bison outrebounded Northern State 38-33 in the game and had 11 steals to the Wolves' six.

North Dakota State and Northern State have now split the season series one game apiece.  The teams will meet again at NDSU on Feb. 1.

The Bison are scheduled to play their regular-season home opener on Monday, Dec. 6, against defending Dakota Athletic Conference champion Jamestown College of the NAIA Division II ranks.  Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Bison Sports Arena.
