FARGO, ND--North Dakota State's senior catcher CHRIS BASO was named to the first team Academic All-District College Division Baseball Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America in an announcement released today.
Baso just completed an outstanding career at North Dakota State. He was named to the All-NCC baseball team for the season straight year, was named to the Academic All-NCC baseball team for the second straight season earlier this spring, and will now advance to the national ballot for his academic and playing abilities.
He charted a 3.42 cumulative grade point average in sociology in the classroom while hitting .408 with seven home runs and 39 RBIs in 53 games this season on the playing field. He finished in the top five at NDSU in career hits, doubles, runs, RBIs, at bats, and putouts.
Bison sophomore NEIL WAGNER was named to the second team after posting a 3.92 grade point average in biological sciences. Wagner, from Eden Prairie, MN, was 6-0 on the season with a 1.40 ERA and a school record 12 saves in a school record 28 appearances.
