Texas-Pan American Rallies Past North Dakota State in Five

FARGO, N.D.--Danielle Holthe had a match-high 21 kills to help Texas-Pan American rally from a two-game deficit and defeat North Dakota State 3-2 in college women's volleyball Friday, Oct. 14, before a crowd of 357 at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.

The Lady Broncs won 24-30, 28-30, 30-22, 30-28, 15-12.  It was UTPA head coach Dave Thorn's 100th career victory.

North Dakota State won the first two sets for only the second time all season, but the Bison blew a nine-point lead midway through the third set.

Heather Bravo served six straight points to get the Lady Broncs even at 18-18, and UTPA snapped a 22-all tie with eight straight points to avoid a three-game sweep.

Holthe belted three kills and had one block in the stretch, and Bravo had two of her 20 kills in the run.

North Dakota State had four players finish with double-figure kills.  Lindsay Shockman-Rogers belted a team-high 15 kills, Kelly Lopez and Kim Hebl each had 14 kills, and Christy Stuewe had 12.

The Bison had a season-high 10 service aces and put up 13 team blocks, led by the eight blocks of Rogers.

Sheila Parrish tied a career high with five blocks and set a new career best with 45 assists.

North Dakota State dropped to 1-23 on the year.  The Bison return home to host Brandon University (Manitoba) for an exhibition match at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15.
