Box Score FARGO, N.D.--Lightning quick guard Rudy Sims scored five of her 15 points in the final minute to lift Arkansas State University to a 64-61 win over North Dakota State University in a women's college basketball game played Saturday, Jan. 20, before a crowd of 1,620 at the Bison Sports Arena.
With North Dakota State mounting a valant comeback in the last two minutes, Sims hit a three-pointer with 47-seconds left and a pair of free throws with 25 seconds remaining to keep the hard-charing Bison at a distance.
NDSU trailed 58-48 with 3:55 left, but went on an 8-0 run to make things interesting. Inger Hodgson hit one of two free throws and rifled a pass to Kayla Dahlen for a layup to trim the lead to 58-51 a minute later. Lisa Bue nailed a jumper in the lane and Brenda Slyt drilled a three-pointer to trim the deficit to 58-56.
Sims connected on the three and the free throws to give ASU a cushion.
Slyt, who led NDSU with 15 points, turned in a traditional three-point play. She rebounded in a missed teammate's shot and converted a free throw to cut the deficit to 63-61 with 12 seconds left.
Caroline Starr made one of two free throws with 11 seconds remaining, but NDSU's Bue missed two from the charity stripe with six ticks left. However, Arkansas State's Ali Carter returned the favor with 3 seconds left. Slyt's desparation three-pointer from halfcourt at the buzzer barely missed to the right.

The Lady Indians (14-6) scored the first 11 points of the second half to take a 41-29 lead. NDSU went scoreless for a little over five minutes until Bue knocked down a three-pointer.
Adrianne Davie scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead a group of three ASU players in double-figures. Ali Carter scored 12 points.
Arkansas State shot 42.4 percent from the field compared to 38.1 percent for NDSU. The Bison held a 41-38 advantage in rebounding led by Jenna Lemnus' career-high nine boards.
