
Hill, IUPUI Shut Down North Dakota State, 60-46

INDIANAPOLIS--George Hill scored a game-high 22 points to lead first-place IUPUI to a 60-46 victory over North Dakota State in Summit League men's basketball Thursday.
Hill, the preseason player of the year in The Summit League, was 8-for-14 from the floor and 6-for-8 at the free-throw line. He also had a game-high eight rebounds plus two assists, two blocks and two steals to give the Jaguars (12-3, 4-0) their eighth straight home win.
IUPUI led 37-32 with 15 minutes left in the game before Hill scored four straight baskets over a span of 4 minutes, 20 seconds to put the Jaguars ahead by 11.
Brett Winkelman snapped the 8-0 run with a pair of free throws at the 10:23 mark before Gary Patterson and Austin Montgomery hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give IUPUI a 15-point lead, 49-34.
IUPUI led 28-24 at halftime and was up by as many as five points in the first half, going ahead 19-14 on Billy Pettiford's only field goal of the period.
North Dakota State (8-8, 2-3) responded with a 7-1 run over the next four-plus minutes, capped by a Sam Sussenguth 3-point play that put the Bison ahead 23-21.
Ben Woodside scored 16 points, four assists and two steals, while teammate Mike Nelson scored 12 points with six rebounds and three assists to lead North Dakota State.
The Bison had a 33-24 rebounding advantage led by seven from Lucas Moormann.
IUPUI forced NDSU into a season-high 24 turnovers and held the Bison to a season-low 46 points.
North Dakota State is at Western Illinois at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12. The Leathernecks hosted South Dakota State on Thursday.
