Box Score SHREVEPORT, La.--North Dakota State rallied for five runs in the eighth inning but fell short in a 7-6 loss at Centenary in Summit League baseball Sunday, May 4.
NDSU slipped to 10-26 overall and 3-12 in The Summit League.  Centenary improved to 27-19 and evened its league record at 10-10.
North Dakota State trailed 7-1 before stringing together five straight one-out hits in the eighth.  Ryan Langlais doubled in Kole Zimmerman to start the scoring, Sebastian Miles followed with a single to score Tim Jallen, and Kyle Harrison's second double of the game brought in Langlais and Miles.
That was enough to chase Centenary starter Dakota Robinson (5-2), who allowed six runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and three walks in 7 1/3 innings.  Harrison would score two batters later on Eric Nutzhorn's two-out single against closer Aaron Bronson, who earned his fourth save of the year.
Harrison's first double led off the second inning, and he came around to tie the game at 1 on Nutzhorn's sacrifice fly with one out.  Harrison and Nutzhorn both finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Centenary went ahead 6-1 by the end of the fourth inning, and Robinson set the Bison down in order in the fifth, sixth and seventh before running into trouble in the eighth.
NDSU starter Shannon Ekermans (2-5) lasted only two innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits with four walks and one strikeout in the loss.  Shane Bushland struck out four in the final six innings, allowing three runs on nine hits with three walks.
North Dakota State is scheduled to host the Minnesota Gophers on Wednesday, May 7, in the rubber game of the three-game season series.  First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo.
