
Balanced Bison Roll Past Western Illinois for Ninth Straight Home Win, 81-64

FARGO, N.D.--Guard Ben Woodside had 26 points and seven assists to lead North Dakota State to an 81-64 victory over Western Illinois in Summit League men's basketball Saturday, Jan. 10, before a crowd of 3,630 at the Bison Sports Arena.
It was the ninth straight home win for North Dakota State, which improved to 10-5 overall and remains in first place with a 5-1 record in The Summit League. Western Illinois slipped to 6-10 overall and 3-2 in the league.
Brett Winkelman and Mike Nelson added 13 points apiece for the Bison, who shot 54 percent from the field and outrebounded Western Illinois 33-25.
Michael Tveidt had nine points, three rebounds and three assists, Freddy Coleman tied a season high with eight points and added three rebounds, and Josh Vaughan finished with four points, four assists and four rebounds.
Winkelman, Tveidt, Coleman and Dejuan Flowers each blocked a shot in the second half. Flowers and Lucas Moormann each had four points to round out the Bison scoring.
David DuBois led Western Illinois with 24 points and Josh Rivers scored 16. Ceola Clark had seven points and a game-high eight rebounds off the bench for the Leathernecks.
North Dakota State is on the road for its next two league games at Southern Utah on Thursday, Jan. 15, and at UMKC on Saturday, Jan. 17.
