
Bison Run Past IPFW for Eighth Straight Win, 74-43

FARGO, N.D.--Ben Woodside scored 21 points to lead North Dakota State to its eighth straight win 74-43 over IPFW in Summit League men's basketball Saturday, Jan. 31, before a season-high crowd of 4,779 at the Bison Sports Arena.
It was the 12th straight home victory for North Dakota State, which improved to 16-5 overall and 10-1 in the league, one half-game ahead of Oral Roberts for first place. IPFW fell to 8-14 overall and 3-8 in the league.
Woodside was 8-for-12 from the field and made 3 of 4 three-pointers. The Bison made all six of their second-half 3-pointers and were 9 of 13 from the arc altogether.
Brett Winkelman, Michael Tveidt and Mike Nelson each scored 10 points for NDSU. David Carson led IPFW with 22 points and five rebounds.
North Dakota State outshot IPFW 54 to 34 percent. The Mastodons' 43 points were the fewest for a Bison opponent since NDSU's 71-34 win over Jamestown College in February 2006.
North Dakota State jumped out to a 14-point lead midway through the first half thanks to a 17-2 run that chewed up six minutes and put the Bison ahead 22-8 with 11:25 to play.
IPFW closed within 33-24 at halftime before the Bison started the second half on another 17-2 run to go up by 24 less than five minutes into the period.
NDSU's biggest lead was 35 when a Lorenzo Riley bucket made the score 74-39 with 2:51 left to play.
North Dakota State is on the road for its next two Summit League games Thursday, Feb. 5, at Western Illinois and Saturday, Feb. 7, at IUPUI.
