
Prelvitz Named Sports Network/Fathead.com All-America First Team

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.--North Dakota State University punter John Prelvitz was named to the Sports Network/Fathead.com Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) All-America first team released Wednesday, Dec. 22. Prelvitz was one of nine Missouri Valley Football Conference players named to the All-America team selected by a national panel of sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries selected the All-America based only on the regular season.
Prelvitz, a 6-foot-2, 212-pound senior from Roseau, Minn., led the Valley in punting. He ranks 10th in FCS punting at 42.6 yards per punt and the Bison rank second nationally in net punting (39.13 avg.). Prelvitz placed 27 punts inside the 20 and had a career long of 80 yards at Missouri State (11-20-10).
In addition, North Dakota State defensive tackle Matthew Gratzek was named to the Phil Steele's Postseason FCS All-America third team defense released on Dec. 22.
Gratzek, a 6-foot-2, 289-pound senior from Argyle, Minn. (Stephen-Argyle Central H.S.) finished with 39 tackles including 17 solo tackles, 10 tackles for loss, six sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, one safety and 15 quarterback hurries. He was the foundation of the Bison defense that ranked 7th nationally in both scoring defense (18.21 ppg) and turnover margin (+1.07 avg.)
North Dakota State went 9-5 and reached the NCAA Division FCS quarterfinals before falling to No. 1-ranked Eastern Washington 38-31 in overtime in Cheney, Wash., on Dec. 11. It was a dramatic turnaround for the Bison, who went 3-8 in 2009.
