Joki Leads North Dakota State to Sweep of Southern Utah

FARGO, N.D. - Outside hitter Brynn Joki had a match-high 12 kills and three blocks to lead North Dakota State to a 25-20, 25-19, 25-18 sweep of Southern Utah in Summit League women's volleyball Friday, Sept. 10, before a crowd of 1,059 at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
Middle hitter Chrissy Knuth and outside hitters Lauren McLaughlin and Brooke VandenBergh had seven kills each for the Bison, who improved to 3-4 overall and 1-0 in the league.
Jennifer Lopez made 32 assists and nine digs for the Bison, who outhit Southern Utah by a .233 to .077 margin. Megan Lambertson hit .714 with five kills in seven attempts.
Jazmine Ma'afala and Analaine Pelaez had eight kills apiece to lead Southern Utah (2-6, 0-1). Libero Caitlin Jensen made 16 digs and Ma'afala added 15.
Brittney Clark had 26 assists for the Thunderbirds.
North Dakota State is scheduled to host UMKC at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11. The Kangaroos are 3-7 overall after losing their Summit League opener 3-1 at South Dakota State on Friday night.
