NDSU Tops FIU in Four Sets for Second Win of Year

AMES, Iowa - North Dakota State got double-doubles from four different players in a 16-25, 25-20, 20-18, 20-18 victory over Florida International at the Iowa State Challenge women's volleyball tournament Saturday, Sept. 4, at Ames High School.
Brooke VandenBergh had 14 kills and 12 digs, and Lauren McLaughlin had 13 kills and 20 digs for the Bison, who went 2-1 in the tournament.
NDSU (2-3) rotated two setters during the match. Jennifer Lopez had 26 assists and 13 digs, and Jordan Kissman added 16 assists and 10 digs. The Bison outhit FIU by a .215 to .167 margin.
Libero Andrea Henning made a match- and career-high 25 digs for NDSU. Middle hitter Janna Deyle tied a career high with seven blocks, including two solos.
Andrea Lakovic had 13 kills and five blocks for FIU (2-3), the two-time defending Sun Belt Conference champions. Setter Natalia Valentin hit .429 with seven kills to go with her 41 assists and 20 digs.
North Dakota State is scheduled to play Drake at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, at the Drake Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
