CHICAGO — Appalachian State quarterback DeAndre Presley, Jacksonville State
quarterbacks Coty Blanchard and Marquis Ivory, Massachusetts linebacker Tyler
Holmes and North Dakota State place kicker Ryan Jastram have been selected as the College Sporting News All-Stars for the
season-opening week of NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision play.

Presley completed 22-of-29 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns, rushed 11
times for 25 yards and two scores and recovered a fumble from teammate Matt
Cline on one of his completions and returned it 33 yards for the game-winning
score in Appalachian State's 42-41 victory at Tennessee-Chattanooga on Saturday
afternoon.
Presley helped ASU erase a 35-14 in an eight-minute span of the fourth quarter,
inclduing the bizarre game-winner. UTC jumped offsides and was flagged on the
third-and-one play with just over three minutes to go, giving the Mountaineers
a free play. Presley fired a pass in the flat to Cline, who was hit hard by
UTC's Chris Lewis-Harris and fumbled. But Presley scrambled to scoop up the
loose ball and scampered through the Moc defense for the go-ahead touchdown
with 2:54 remaining.
Presley also had touchdown runs of two yards in the first period and four yards
in the fourth period and fired touchdown strikes of 14 yards to tight end Ben
Jorden and was credited with a 33-yard TD pass to himself on the go-ahead score
to finish with 365 yards of total offense in a key Southern Conference win.
In just his third career start and the first as a replacement to two-time
Payton Award winner Armanti Edwards, Presley led a Mountaineer attack that
piled up 486 yards of total offense.

Ivory came up big at the end of regulation with a touchdown pass and two-point
conversion completion to tie the score and Blanchard had a touchdown pass and
two-point conversion completion in the second overtime to key Jacksonville
State's 49-48 upset over Mississippi on Saturday afternoon. It was the first
win ever by an Ohio Valley Conference school over a Southeastern Conference
team since the OVC was formed in 1948.
Ivory started the game and went 13-for-23 for 126 yards and two touchdowns
while true freshman Blanchard was 9-for-13 for 126 yards and two touchdowns.
The duo led the Gamecocks to five straight touchdowns to end the game, as JSU
trailed 31-13 entering the fourth quarter. JSU outscored the Rebels 21-3 in the
final quarter behind the two-quarterback attack. The Gamecocks trailed 31-10 at
halftime.
Blanchard had a four-yard touchdown with 6:17 left to cut the lead to 31-26 and Ivory had a 19-yard score to Alan Bonner with 18 seconds left to make the score 34-32. Ivory then completed a two-point conversion pass to La'Ray Williams to force overtime.
Each quarterback scored a touchdown in overtime, as Ivory connected for a seven-yard score in the first overtime, and Blanchard completed a 30-yard pass on fourth and 15 in the second overtime in the back of the end zone to Kevyn Cooper. Blanchard then completed a two-point conversion pass to Calvin Middleton to win the game. The Gamecocks duo did not throw an interception in the game.
Tyler Holmes, Massachusetts, Linebacker, 6-0, 220, Junior, Blacksburg, Virginia
Holmes helped spark Massachusetts to a key 27-23 victory over No. 4 ranked William & Mary Saturday afternoon at home with his hard-hitting play. He had a total of 10 tackles for a squad that limited the Tribe's potent attack to 113 yards on the ground.
But Holmes biggest contribution of the game came in the final minutes when his interception killed William & Mary's last drive to preserve the victory. On that play, a low pass from Tribe quarterback Mike Callahan slipped through the hands of running back Jonathan Grimes. Holmes then made a diving catch for the interception.
Holmes had three solo tackles and seven assists, broke up one pass and contributed 1.5 tackles for four yards loss.
Ryan Jastram, North Dakota State, Place Kicker, 5-11, 203, Junior, Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Jastrem was perfect on a pair of field goals for North Dakota State's only points in a 6-3 victory over Kansas on Saturday night.
Jastram drilled a 44-yard field goal with 3:20 left in the second quarter to tie the game at 3-all at the halftime break. The redshirt junior, who is a transfer from New Mexico State, added what turned out to be the game-winning kick from 33 yards out with 8:04 remaining in the third period.
Jastram had been just 1-of-4 on field goals and 6-of-6 on PATs last season as a backup kicker for the Bison, who picked up their fourth win over an FBS opponent in five years and their first-ever victory over a Big-12 opponent. He also averaged 59.7 yards per kickoff last season.
