
Hot-Handed Seawolves Cruise Past North Dakota State 73-47

ANCHORAGE, Alaska--Host University of Alaska-Anchorage tied a school and tournament with 14 three-pointers made led by Alysa Horn's game-high 25 points as the Seawolves cruised past North Dakota State 73-47 in the opening round of the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Sullivan Arena.
North Dakota State (2-3) is scheduled to play Prairie View A&M (0-3) at 5:30 p.m. (Central) Wednesday, Nov. 21, in the consolation game. Utah State (1-3) edged Prairie View 67-66 to advance to the championship game against UAA (3-1).
Horn scored 15 of her game-high 25 points in the first half for Alaska-Anchorage, which hit 50 percent from the field including 10 of 18 three-pointers to take a 44-21 halftime lead. Horn also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
North Dakota State shot 29.2 percent from the field and committed 16 first half turnovers that led to 15 UAA points.
Sasha King netted 11 of her 21 points in the opening period for the Seawolves, who also received 10 points from Kylie Burns. King dished out seven assists and added three steals.
Horn and King combined to make 9 of 19 three-pointers as the Seawolves made 14 of 32 treys overall. UAA shot 42.6 from the field and made 13 of 16 free throws.
Hannah Linz and Dani DeGagne each scored eight points for North Dakota State, which didn't have a player reach double-figures.
