CHARLOTTE, N.C.--North Dakota State University's Sam Ojuri has been named to the 40-player 2012 College Football Performance Awards
(CFPA) FCS Running Back Watch List. Ojuri is one of five Missouri
Valley Football Conference running backs in the select group.
Ojuri, a 6-foot, 205-pound junior from Barrington, Ill., rushed 187 times for 1,105 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2011. He had five 100-yard games and averaged 5.9 yards per carry.
In four NCAA playoff games, Ojuri rushed 55 times for 324 yards and three TDs. He gained 136 yards on 17 carries in the 24-0 win over Lehigh University in the quarterfinals.
Ojuri rushed 12 times for a career-high 165 yards including a 95-yard TD run against Saint Francis, Pa. (9-12-11).
North Dakota State won the
program's first NCAA Division I Football Championship with a 17-6 win
over Sam Houston State on Jan. 7 and also claimed the program's first
Missouri Valley Football Conference title. The Bison were 14-1 overall
and 7-1 in MVFC.
The Bison open the 2012 season against Robert Morris at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, in the Fargodome.
