
NDSU Withstands Fort Wayne Rally, Moves to 14-3 with 67-55 Win

FARGO, N.D. - The North Dakota State men's basketball team saw its 16-point second half lead over Fort Wayne trimmed to three with four minutes to play, but the Bison closed the game with a 10-1 run to earn a 67-55 victory and improve to 5-0 in The Summit League on Thursday evening in the Bison Sports Arena.
Taylor Braun scored 16 points to lead four players in double figures for North Dakota State. Marshall Bjorklund, the national leader in field goal percentage, scored 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting. Sophomore guard Lawrence Alexander scored 12 points and junior forward TrayVonn Wright chipped in 10.
Alexander added a career-high 10 rebounds and five assists to register the second double-double of his career.
NDSU (14-3, 5-0 Summit) shot 57.1 percent for the game and limited Fort Wayne to 37.7 percent shooting from the field.
Fort Wayne (8-10, 1-3 Summit) was led by 21 points from Luis Jacobo. The Mastodons shot 10-of-26 from three-point range for the game.
The Bison led 37-32 at halftime after a back-and-forth opening 20 minutes. NDSU opened up a 16-point lead with a 13-2 run over the first six minutes of the second half, but Fort Wayne responded with a 9-0 run on three consecutive three-pointers and eventually cut the deficit to three at 57-54 on a Jacobo trey with 4:07 to play.
Dunks by Wright and Braun on back-to-back possessions pushed the Bison lead back to seven, and NDSU closed the game with a 10-1 run to seal its sixth straight victory.
North Dakota State hosts Oakland in the Bison Sports Arena on Saturday, January 12, at 4 p.m.
