Five players won the annual awards including Williams, who was named the Defensive Player of the Year and Jensen, who was named the news service's FCS Playoffs MVP.
The head coach of the year was announced among other honors. Two coaches and an additional 11 players received enough votes to be named honorable mention.
Including the honorable mention selections there were three
coaches, 61 players, from 43 teams and 12 conferences. Eastern Washington lead
the way with five honorees and 15 other teams had multiple selections. The Big
Sky Conference surpassed all other leagues with 14 selections.
North Dakota State (14-1) and Coach Craig Bohl landed their second consecutive FCS national championship in a rematch of last year's title game against Sam Houston State (11-4) January 5 at FC Dallas Stadium in Frisco, Texas. The 39-13 win in this year's game marks the second FCS championship in school history, giving the Bison, who joined the FCS in 2004, their tenth national championship across all divisions.
