Bison Women’s Cross Country Claims Second Straight UND Ron Pynn Invitational Title

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The North Dakota State women's cross country team claimed the UND Ron Pynn Invitational team title for the second straight year on Saturday afternoon, winning with 26 points at Ray Richards Golf Course.

Senior Maddie McClellan continued to lead the Bison, serving as NDSU's top finisher for the third consecutive meet. McClellan took runner-up honors in 17:49.1 for the 5k on Saturday.

Sophomore Brecca Wahlund finished third in 17:54.2, junior Abbi Aspengren was fourth in 18:02.6, and redshirt freshman Erin Teschuk claimed fifth in 18:16.8. Sophomore Paige Stratioti completed the scoring for NDSU, placing 13th in 19:40.8.

Each of the top seven finishers for the Bison recorded season-best times in the 5k. McClellan's time was six seconds faster than her performance at last season's Ron Pynn Invitational.

NDSU topped UND 26-31 in the Division I team race.

NDSU will compete next at The Summit League Championships, which will be held on Nov. 2 in Fort Wayne, Ind. The Bison will be attempting to win their third consecutive league team title.
