
Fort Wayne Defeats Bison Women 70-58

FARGO, N.D.--Fort Wayne used an 11-0 run midway in the second half and scored 16 points off turnovers to roll to a 70-58 win over North Dakota State University in a Summit League women's basketball game played Saturday, Feb. 9, before 649 at the Bison Sports Arena.
North Dakota State (9-15, 5-7 Summit League) is scheduled to play at Western Illinois (10-13, 3-7 Summit League) at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, in Macomb.
Holly Johnson hit a three-point jumper to put the Bison ahead 37-34 with 13:32 remaining. Johnson scored all nine points in the second half and also pulled down a career-high seven rebounds.
However, Fort Wayne (9-14, 5-6 Summit League) rallied behind Hailey Seibert. Seibert hit a layup to start the 11-0 run and then drained a three-pointer to put the Mastodons ahead 39-37 with 12:34 remaining.
Seibert scored 12 of her 15 points in the second half as Fort Wayne hit 56 percent from the field in the final period and 47.1 percent overall. The Mastodons hit 16 of 19 from the free throw line and committed only six turnovers including zero in the second half.
Amanda Hyde, the Summit League's leading scorer, dropped in a game-high 19 points. Erin Murphy added 17 points. Stefanie Mauk contributed a game-high 10 rebounds.
Jamie Van Kirk scored 13 of her 15 points in the first half as North Dakota State built a 30-25 halftime lead. The Bison hit 56.3 percent from the field in the opening half and finished 46.3 percent.
North Dakota State made only 5 of 11 free throws and had 12 turnovers that resulted in 16 IPFW points. Katie Birkel and Dani DeGagne each had 13 points. The Bison outrebounded Fort Wayne 35-27 including 12 offensive boards.
