Big Runs, Wright’s Dunks Lift Bison to 87-64 Victory at IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS – Senior forward TrayVonn Wright scored a career-high 24 points to lead the North Dakota State University men's basketball team to an 87-64 victory in Summit League action at The Jungle on Saturday, Jan. 11.
 
Sophomore Kory Brown registered his first career double-double for the Bison with 11 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. NDSU senior Taylor Braun had 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Wright matched his career best in field goals, going 10-of-14 from the floor and connecting on all three attempts from beyond the arc.
 
NDSU used a 15-0 run over a four-minute stretch of the first half to turn a five-point deficit into a 10-point lead and a 20-5 run over seven minutes in the middle of the second half to secure the victory. Mike Felt came off the bench to score the first nine points of the 15-0 first-half run by the Bison.
 
NDSU (12-5, 1-1 Summit) shot 8-for-14 (57.1 percent) from three-point range for the game and 19-for-32 (59.4 percent) from the floor in the second half.
 
IUPUI (5-14, 0-2 Summit) was led by 14 points apiece from Donovan Gibbs and Marcellus Barksdale.
 
The Bison recorded a 42-22 advantage in points in the paint. NDSU held a 35-31 lead at halftime before outscoring IUPUI 52-33 over the final 20 minutes.
 
NDSU led by as many as 26 points with 4:58 to play in the game.
 
Felt hit three treys to move into third place on the NDSU all-time list in career three-pointers made with 230, passing NDSU career scoring leader Ben Woodside. Saturday's contest was the 100th of Braun's career.
 
NDSU will host Omaha in the Bison Sports Arena on Thursday, Jan. 16.
