ORONO, Maine – The North Dakota State University women's soccer team (4-2) suffered a 1-0 loss to the University of Maine (2-5) Black Bears Friday afternoon, Sept. 12, at Alumni Field.

The Black Bears' Marie-Pier Gougeon broke a scoreless draw between the two teams in the 78th-minute after she scored what ended up being the game-winning-goal on a cross from teammate Jordan Pellerin.

The Bison nearly equalized in the 82nd-minute, but Lauren Miller's shot was saved by Maine goalkeeper Claudia Dube-Trempe, preserving the 1-0 win for the Black Bears and dealing NDSU its second consecutive defeat.

NDSU was outshot by Maine in the match, 13-7, and was held to just one corner kick compared to eight for the home side.

Bison goalkeeper Sierra Bonham made three saves between the pipes but suffered the loss to drop to 4-2 on the season.

Dube-Trempe collected three saves in the match for the Black Bears to improve her record in goal to 2-1.

North Dakota State is scheduled to return to the pitch on Sunday, Sept. 14, when it travels to Worcester, Mass., for a 1 p.m. ET (Noon CT) non-league match against the College of the Holy Cross Crusaders.
