Bison Falter at SIU Edwardsville Friday Night, 1-0

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The North Dakota State University women's soccer team (4-4) fell at SIU Edwardsville (3-3-1) Friday, Sept. 19, 1-0, at Korte Stadium. It was NDSU's fourth consecutive setback.
North Dakota State is scheduled to wrap-up a four match road trip at Drake on Sunday, Sept. 21, at 1 p.m. in Des Moines, Iowa.
SIU Edwardsville netted what proved to be the game-winning goal six minutes into the match after Michelle Auer directed a pass from Rachel Brots into the back of the net from 10 yards out to put the Cougars up 1-0.
The Bison almost leveled the match two minutes later, but Cougar goalkeeper Jennifer Pelley saved Anisha Kinnarath's blast to keep SIU Edwardsville in front. NDSU nearly equalized again in the 17th-minute, but Olivia Norman's shot was saved by Pelley.
For the match, the Bison were outshot by SIU Edwardsville, 13-5, and were limited to one corner kick compared to two for the Cougars.
NDSU goalkeeper Sierra Bonham posted a game-high four saves but fell to 4-4 between the pipes after allowing the lone goal of the match.
Pelley ended the match with three saves and improved to 3-3-1 overall in goal.
