South Dakota Rally Stops NDSU Volleyball 3-0

VERMILLION, S.D. —The University of South Dakota rallied back from a large first set deficit to defeat North Dakota State University 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-16) in a Summit League match played Saturday, Oct. 31, in the Coyote Den.
NDSU (15-11, 6-6 Summit League) is scheduled to host Fort Wayne (6-20, 3-7 SL) at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
South Dakota (10-13, 4-6 SL) rallied from a 23-18 deficit in the first set. Emily Miron had five of her nine kills as the Bison gained the early upperhand. However, Kelsey Biltoft had a pair of kills, Brittany Jessen served two aces and Audrey Reeg added a kill to spark the Coyotes' comeback.
North Dakota State fought back from several deficits to tie the second set at 20-all and take a 23-22 lead on an Emily Minnick attack in the middle. However, USD scored the final three points to take the set.
Reeg delivered a match-high 13 kills to lead a trio of South Dakota players with double-figure kills. Biltoft finished with 12 kills and hit .474 and Haley Jorgensen had 11 kills and hit .556. The Coyotes outhit NDSU .292 to 157 for the match as Brittany Jessen had 42 assists and three service aces. Lauren Mattison came up with 18 digs.
Jenni Fassbender paced North Dakota State with 10 kills, while Miron had nine and hit. 304. Mikaela Purnell came up with a match-high 20 digs.
