Fourth-Quarter Comeback Scores NDSU 27-24 Victory at Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The No. 2-ranked North Dakota State football team scored 17 fourth-quarter points to erase a 24-10 deficit and earn a 27-24 victory at No. 20 Youngstown State on Saturday afternoon.
 
NDSU (8-2, 6-1 MVFC) scored on a 7-yard touchdown run by King Frazier with 14:22 left in the game and a 40-yard field goal by freshman Cam Pedersen with 9:57 remaining to trim its deficit to 24-20.
 
Redshirt freshman quarterback Easton Stick darted up the middle for the game-winning, 4-yard touchdown run with only 0:35 left in the game. Stick's TD capped a nine-play, 54-yard drive that took 4:51 off the clock.
 
Youngstown State (5-5, 3-4 MVFC) led 14-3 at halftime and extended its margin to 24-10 on a 44-yard Zak Kennedy field goal in the final minute of the third quarter.
 
The Bison converted just 3-of-13 attempts on third down, but still held the time-of-possession advantage at 32:16.
 
Stick was 9-of-18 passing for 176 yards, including a 66-yard strike to senior Zach Vraa to set up a Pedersen field goal that got the Bison on the scoreboard in the second quarter. Freshman Bruce Anderson led the NDSU ground attack with 67 yards on only four carries. Frazier totaled 64 yards on 19 carries.
 
Junior linebacker Nick DeLuca led the Bison defense with seven tackles. Junior defensive end Brad Ambrosius recorded two tackles for loss.
 
NDSU held a slight edge over the Penguins in total yardage at 360-349. YSU's Jody Webb racked up 132 rushing yards on five carries, including 45- and 77-yard touchdown scampers.
 
NDSU remains in a first-place tie with Illinois State atop the Missouri Valley Football Conference standings at 6-1 with one week remaining.
 
NDSU hosts Missouri State in the regular season finale on Saturday, Nov. 21. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome.
