NDSU Volleyball Stuns Host Oral Roberts 3-0 in Summit League Finale

TULSA, Okla. -- Emily Miron connected for a match-high 13 kills, hit .632 and had three blocks as North Dakota State University gained control early to defeat Oral Roberts University 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-21) in a Summit League match played Sunday, Nov. 15, before 359 spectators in the ORU Aerobics Center. The Bison, which clinch fourth place, end the regular season winning nine of their last 11 matches.
NDSU (19-11, 10-6 Summit League) is scheduled to compete in The Summit League Championships at the University of Denver on Nov. 20-22. Official pairings will be announced later this afternoon.
North Dakota State jumped on top early against Oral Roberts (14-15, 8-8 SL) in the opening set, hitting .310 to post a 25-15 victory.
The Golden Eagles rebounded in set two and took a 14-7 advantage. However, NDSU picked up steam behind Emily Minnick, Jenni Fassbender, Jessica Jorgensen and Miron to chip away and tie things at 21-all before completing the comeback 25-22. The Bison hit .375 in that second set
Mikaela Purnell led the Bison with 23 digs.
Brianna Rasmusson (21) and Monica Claxton (16) combined for 37 assists with plenty of options. Fassbender collected nine kills, Minnick had eight kills and hit. 353, and Jorgensen went 7-for-7 with no errors. NDSU outhit Oral Roberts .337 to .090, and had five team blocks compared to three for the Golden Eagles.
Laura Milos led ORU with 10 kills. Tori Roe came up with 23 digs and Lucija Bojanjac had 19 assists for the Golden Eagles.
