FEBRUARY 2015 PHOTO GALLERY
Construction progress inside the Sanford Health Athletic Complex is becoming much more noticeable in the 11th month of work.
With temporary heat in place, crews inside the facility are continuing to build block walls on the north end of the first floor around new mechanical and utility rooms, the north ticket window, and some locker room spaces. The former swimming pool is nearly filled in around footings for new therapy pools, and new floors are being framed and poured on the second and third levels above the pool.
Work hasn't stop outside, either, thanks to near record-low snowfall totals and reasonable outdoor temperatures for early February. Roofs are nearly closed off on the west expansion for strength and conditioning, and the Nodak Mutual Insurance basketball training facility. Temporary heat will soon be extended to those additions to thaw the frozen ground and continue work.
The main arena floor of the Scheels Center will be a focus moving forward. The south end of the floor has been excavated inside the curve of the former indoor track surface, where footings are being installed to support a new second floor concourse that will eventually circle the arena.
