FARGO, N.D. - Former North Dakota State running back John Crockett agreed to a free agent deal with the Green Bay Packers following the conclusion of the 2015 NFL Draft on Saturday, May 2.
Crockett, 6 feet and 217 pounds, was a Sports Network second team FCS All-American after running for a school-record 1,994 yards last season. He ran for 21 touchdowns, two shy of the school record, and averaged 5.4 yards per carry. His 397 receiving yards were the second most by a running back in NDSU history.
Crockett put together three straight 1,000-yard seasons despite splitting the carries as the No. 2 back his first two years. He finished second on the NDSU career rushing chart with 4,309 yards and had 20 career 100-yard rushing games. He was just the second player in Bison history to eclipse 5,000 all-purpose yards, finishing with 5,151.
He was the second NDSU player from the 2014 class to turn pro. Former defensive end Kyle Emanuel was drafted as a linebacker with the 153rd overall pick in the fifth round by the San Diego Chargers.
Two other former Bison players received tryout invitations. Kicker Adam Keller will visit the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints, and safety Christian Dudzik was invited to the Vikings' mini camp.
