Sanford Health Athletic Complex Construction Update: May 2015

Concrete was a major theme in May at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex. Workers were busy pouring new floors in the Nodak Mutual Insurance basketball training facility and strength and conditioning spaces on the west addition, placing precast concrete for the new upper concourse of Scheels Center, and excavating the final pieces of the old arena subfloor.
Masons built block walls around the four sides of the main arena and continued work on a new stair tower and elevator shaft on the east addition near University Drive, where passers-by could catch a glimpse of the construction activity inside through the wide open east side of the building.
On the south side, most of the former F and RF parking lots were removed to be rebuilt between the SHAC and the Team Makers Athletic Fields west to the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track and Field Facility. The east half of the parking lots will be rebuilt later in the construction process.
