Brown Powers Bison to 66-65 Victory over South Dakota

FARGO, N.D. – Kory Brown finished with 21 points and 15 rebounds to lead the North Dakota State men's basketball team to a 66-65 win over South Dakota on Wednesday evening at Scheels Arena.
NDSU improved to 12-6 overall and 2-2 in The Summit League with the victory.
South Dakota (9-10, 1-4 Summit) trimmed a 16-point second-half deficit to one in the final minute, but a shot by Shy McClelland with three seconds remaining went halfway down and bounced out.
Brown had a double-double before halftime, pulling down his 10th rebound with 1:50 left in the first half. He had 16 points at the break on his way to career highs in both categories.
NDSU used a 13-4 run to take a 21-13 lead following a Paul Miller three-pointer with 6:22 left in the opening half. The Bison led 35-26 at halftime.
NDSU pushed its margin to 16 points at 59-43 with eight minutes left in the game, but the Coyotes strung together an 11-0 run to get back in the contest.
The Bison shot 10-of-22 from three-point range in the game. It was the second time this season that NDSU made at least 10 threes in a game.
Paul Miller scored 14, A.J. Jacobson tallied 13, and Khy Kabellis added 11 points for NDSU.
Brown's previous career highs were 18 points (North Dakota, 12/13/14) and 13 rebounds (Denver, 1/29/15).
NDSU junior forward Dexter Werner grabbed eight rebounds, including two clutch offensive boards in the final two minutes.
NDSU hosts South Dakota State on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at Scheels Arena.
