Cordell Eaton claimed North Country Open individual championships in their respective weight divisions, while five others placed among the top four finishers in the tournament hosted by Saint John's University on Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Warner Palaestra.
Friedman (Oconto Falls, Wis./Oconto Falls H.S.) went 4-0 during the tournament including a pair of pins. He defeated Marcus Hammer of Augsburg by the score of 3-1 in the championship match. Friedman improve to 15-11 overall with five pins.
Moving up a weight class, Fogarty (Jordan, Minn./Scott West H.S.) won his third open tournament championship winning all four matches including back-to-back tech falls to open competition. He defeated Josh Berg of St. Cloud State 4-2 in the 165-pound finals. Fogarty pushed his overall record to 26-5.
Eaton (Long Grove, Iowa/North Scott H.S.) posted three wins to collect his fourth open tournament championship including his seventh pin of the season. He recorded a 9-2 decision over Luke Belich of St. Cloud State in the championship tilt. Eaton improved to 21-5 this season.
Third place performances were turned in by unattached freshmen,
