North Dakota State Earns 76-66 Victory over Arkansas State in Scheels Center Opener

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team posted a 76-66 victory over Arkansas State in the regular season opener and the inaugural game at the Scheels Center on campus.
NDSU (1-0) used a 19-0 run over an eight-minute stretch of the second half to pull away and earn the win in front of a crowd of 5,005.
Arkansas State (0-1) led 48-47 with 11 minutes remaining in the contest, but a floater from Khy Kabellis and a layup by Dylan Miller sparked the ensuing 19-0 Bison run. NDSU ultimately led 66-48 with 3:20 to play.
NDSU junior guard Paul Miller poured in 24 points to lead all scorers. A.J. Jacobson added 12 points and set new career-highs in rebounds (9), steals (4) and blocks (3).
Senior forward Dexter Werner posted 16 points and five rebounds for the Bison. Paul Miller converted four three-point plays in the game.
The Bison made 29-of-42 attempts at the free throw line, with Werner and Paul Miller draining eight apiece. NDSU shot 50 percent from the field for the game. Arkansas State shot 44 percent.
While it was NDSU's first regular season game in the new Scheels Center on campus, the home dominance of the Bison did not change. NDSU is now 51-3 in Fargo since the start of the 2012-13 season.
The Bison will host Minnesota Morris on Sunday at 5 p.m. inside the Scheels Center.
