Bison Rally for 74-70 Victory over UC Davis

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's basketball team trailed UC Davis by 10 points with under eight minutes remaining, but the Bison rallied for a 74-70 comeback victory on Wednesday evening in the Scheels Center.
NDSU (7-4) trailed 58-48 with 7:57 left in the second half before the Bison strung together a 14-2 run to take a 62-60 lead with 4:33 to play. Freshman Tyson Ward knocked down two three-pointers, and Dexter Werner chipped in a critical three-point play during NDSU's comeback charge.
UC Davis (5-6) led by as many as 11 points in the second half. Senior guard Brynton Lemar scored 22 points to top the Aggies' scoresheet.
NDSU junior guard Paul Miller scored 17 points to lead the Bison. He connected for three three-pointers – his first made treys since Nov. 22. Senior guard Carlin Dupree kept the Bison afloat with 11 first-half points and finished with 15 in the contest.
Sophomore point guard Khy Kabellis filled up the stat sheet with 15 points, seven rebounds, a season-high five assists, and three steals. Werner grabbed 10 rebounds to finish with double-figure rebounds in his third straight game.
Ward's second three-pointer put NDSU ahead 62-60 with 4:33 to play. After UC Davis battled back within one at 67-66 with 2:55 remaining, Paul Miller connected for his third three of the night to put the Bison up 70-66.
Trailing 72-70, UC Davis had a chance to tie the game with 19 seconds left, but Lemar's driving layup attempt was blocked off the backboard by Werner.
NDSU outscored the Aggies 46-35 in the second half. The Bison made their final four three-point attempts of the game.
NDSU will travel to Grand Forks to take on the University of North Dakota Friday night at 8.
