Junior forward Chima Moneke leads UC Davis in scoring (13.7 ppg) and rebounding (8.5 rpg) while shooting 56 percent from the field. Senior guard Brynton Lemar is averaging 13.0 points per game. The Aggies rank 54th in the nation with a team three-point percentage of 38.9 percent.
Head coach Jim Les is in his sixth season at UC Davis. The Aggies finished with a record of 11-19 last season, going 6-10 in the Big West Conference.
The Series vs. UC Davis: The Bison are 3-0 against UC Davis following a victory in last year's season opener. The last time these two schools met in Fargo was on Dec. 16, 2010, which NDSU won 76-71 behind 19 points from Freddy Coleman.
About North Dakota: The Fighting Hawks are 5-3 this season including a 74-56 win in Fargo on Dec. 7.
Senior guard Quinton Hooker leads UND with 17.4 points per game, and sophomore Geno Crandall is averaging 14.7 points. Junior forward Drick Bernstine leads the team in rebounding with 7.1 boards per contest.
Head coach Brian Jones is in his 11th season at North Dakota with a record of 149-172. The Fighting Hawks finished 17-16 last season.
The Series vs. North Dakota: UND leads the all-time series 160-130, dating back to 1905. This will be the eighth meeting as Division I opponents, with NDSU holding a 4-3 record in those contests. The home team had won every Division I meeting between the schools until NDSU won 69-67 in Grand Forks on Dec. 11 last season.
Last Year: The Bison rallied late for an improbable victory at UC Davis on Nov. 13 last year in the season opener, winning 79-71 in overtime to snap the Aggies' 14-game home winning streak.
Trailing 69-60 with less than two minutes remaining in the game, the Bison scored 19 straight points – nine in a row to force overtime, and then 10 more to open the overtime period. By the time NDSU's remarkable run was over, the Bison held a 79-69 lead with 33 seconds left in OT.
Dexter Werner recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 boards in the win, and Paul Miller added 20 points for the Bison.
Home Court: NDSU is 53-4 at home since the start of the 2012-13 season. The Bison set a Summit League record with 31 consecutive home wins from Dec. 2, 2013, to Jan. 3, 2016.
Let's Play Two: NDSU and UND haven't played twice in the same season since 2003-04 in North Central Conference play.
Werner Honored: Bison senior Dexter Werner was named Summit League Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his performance vs. North Dakota on Dec. 7.
Werner scored a career-high 30 points, pulled down 13 rebounds, and added three steals. He made 12-of-13 shots (92.3 percent).
Rare Feat: Dexter Werner's performance vs. North Dakota on Dec. 7 was only the fourth time in NDSU history that a Bison made 12+ FGs and shot at least 90 percent in a game.
He is the only player in the country this season to accomplish the same feat.
High Percentage: The Bison have been receiving efficient production from their post players this season. Dexter Werner is shooting 69 percent for the season, and forwards Dylan Miller and Spencer Eliason are both shooting 56 percent.
Headed to Arkansas: NDSU will travel to play Arkansas on Dec. 20 for the final non-conference game of the season. The Razorbacks will be NDSU's first SEC opponent since the Bison took on Florida on Nov. 9, 2007.
50 Wins: A win vs. UC Davis would be the 50th career victory for NDSU head coach David Richman. Richman is likely to become the third-fastest NDSU coach to achieve 50 wins, behind George Dewey (65 games, 1922-25) and Bob Lowe (71 games, 1933-46).
Few Fouls: The Bison rank 13th in the nation for fewest fouls committed per game. NDSU has committed an average of just 15.6 fouls per game through the first 10 contests.
On the Glass: NDSU ripped down 20 offensive rebounds on the way to an impressive 47-25 rebounding margin in its win at North Carolina A&T on Dec. 2. It was the first time since Dec. 4, 2010, that the Bison grabbed at least 20 offensive boards against a Division I opponent. Paul Miller led NDSU with five offensive rebounds.
