Enerson Leads NDSU Men in Decathlon at UC Riverside Spring Track Classic

Day 1 Results
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Redshirt freshman Ryan Enerson scored 3,511 points on the first day of the decathlon to headline the efforts of the North Dakota State men's track & field team at the UC Riverside Spring Track Classic on Thursday.
Enerson (Grand Forks, N.D.) stands in second place in the decathlon standings through five of the 10 events. Herman Day of Long Beach State leads with 3,907 points.
NDSU junior Grant Mjelstad is in fourth place with 3,326 points, senior Brock Larson is eighth with 3,216, and Bison redshirt freshman Matt Moberg sits in ninth with 3,154.
Enerson opened the day with a time of 11.58 seconds in the 100m dash and followed up with a mark of 21-02.00 (6.45m) in the long jump. He threw 42-02.75 (12.87m) in the shot put, cleared 6-02.75 (1.90m) in the high jump, and capped the day by running 52.21 in the 400m dash. Enerson was among the top five performers in all five events contested on Thursday.
Mjelstad clocked a personal-best of 11.63 in the 100m and posted an outdoor-best of 39-09.25 (12.12m) in the shot put.
The decathlon will conclude on Friday, as the UC Riverside Spring Track Classic continues over the next two days.
