Renner Wins Stanford Invitational Shot Put, Extends School Record

STANFORD, Calif. – Junior thrower Alex Renner extended his school record in the shot put to headline the performances of the North Dakota State men's track & field team at a pair of meets in California's Bay Area on Saturday. The Bison men competed at the Stanford Invitational and the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, posting a number of significant performances at both meets.
Renner (Watertown, S.D.) threw 61-03.50 (18.68m) to win the Stanford Invitational title and add one centimeter to his previous NDSU record in the outdoor shot put. He is ranked among the top 20 in the NCAA in the event this year.
Renner's previous school record was established at the 2015 Summit League Outdoor Championships.
Conrad Schwarzkopf recorded an outdoor shot put personal-best of his own, throwing 55-06.50 (16.93m) at Stanford to rank sixth in NDSU history. Sophomore Steffan Stroh posted a toss of 54-07.25 (16.64m) to rank eighth in school history.
Senior Colin Paarmann leapt to an outdoor personal-best in the triple jump, marking 47-02.25 (14.38m) for sixth place at Stanford.
Senior Parker McKittrick clocked 14.36 seconds in the 110m hurdles for fifth place, and fellow senior Jerome Begin tied his personal-best at 14.39 to take sixth.
Junior Jonah Warwick ran an 800m personal-best of 1:51.34 at the Stanford Invitational.
Senior Brandt Berghuis took seventh place in both the invitational shot put and hammer throw, throwing 57-01.50 (17.41m) in the shot and 190-5 (58.04m) in the hammer.
At San Francisco State, Dalton Herding finished the 400m dash in 49.98 for the third-fastest time of his career. Sophomore Matt Bedard clocked a season-best 53.27 in the 400m hurdles to take third place.
The Bison will compete next at the Husker Spring Invite in Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday, Apr. 9.
