Strong Second-Half Lifts Utah to 3-1 Win Over NDSU Women’s Soccer

FARGO, N.D. – The Utah Utes scored a pair of second-half goals to break a 1-1 tie and lift them to a 3-1 victory over the North Dakota State women's soccer team on Sunday, Sept. 11, in front of 186 spectators at Dacotah Field.
With the loss, the Bison see their overall record dip to 3-4-0, while Utah improves to 4-2-0 on the season.
The Bison took an early 1-0 just three minutes into the match after senior midfielder Lizzie Lukas scored her first goal of the season on a cross-pass from Amy Yang. It was Yang's third assist of the season.
Utah's Hailey Skolmoski tied the match, 1-1, after scoring a goal in the 15th-minute.
The contest remained deadlocked at one until the 75th-minute when Utah's Max Flom scored the go-ahead goal on a cross-pass.
The Utes added another goal in the 83rd-minute, making it 3-1.
Skolmoski netted a goal and dished out two assists to lead the Utah offense.
Carly Nelson earned the win between the posts for the Utes after making one save and surrendering one goal in 90 minutes.
NDSU freshman goalkeeper Monica Polgar suffered the loss in-goal after giving up three goals while making four saves in 90 minutes.
North Dakota State is scheduled to travel to UNC Asheville on Friday, Sept. 16, for a 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. CT) match.
