NDSU Women’s Soccer Rolls to 7-0 Victory Over Jamestown Tuesday

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University women's soccer team netted a season-high seven goals to roll to a 7-0 shutout win over the University of Jamestown Jimmies on Tuesday night, Sept. 20, under the lights at Dacotah Field.
With the win, the Bison improve to 5-5-0 overall.
Sophomore Malley O'Brien recorded the first two goals of her NDSU career to lead the Bison, while seniors Amy Yang, Hannah Butzlaff and Lizzie Lukas, junior Anna Reinholz, and freshman Mariah Haberle also found the back of the net for the home side.
Yang netted the opening goal for NDSU in the seventh-minute, scoring off an assist from sophomore Holly Enderle to put North Dakota State in front, 1-0. It was Yang's third goal of the season and Enderle's first assist.
Lukas collected a rebound shot from Haberle and smashed it into the back of the net in the 23rd-minute, increasing the Bison lead to 2-0. It was Lukas' third goal and Haberle's team-high sixth assist of the season.
Haberle made it 3-0, Bison, after scoring a goal from 15 yards out in the 33rd-minute. The goal was the first of Haberle's collegiate career.
North Dakota State continued its offensive surge in the second-half. O'Brien netted the opening goal of her Bison career in the 55th-minute, scoring off an assist from Lauren Miller to build the Bison advantage to 4-0.
Reinholz netted her first goal of the season 10 minutes later when she blasted a cross-pass from Mallory Fenske into the back of the net, ballooning the North Dakota State lead to 5-0.
O'Brien struck again in the 74th-minute, netting her second goal via a Hanna Norman assist, completing the brace and increasing the NDSU lead to 6-0.
Butzlaff netted the seventh and final goal for the Bison, scoring in the 80th-minute off Miller's second assist of the match. It was Butzlaff's first goal and Miller's fifth assist of 2016.
For the match, North Dakota State outshot Jamestown, 29-1, and earned 12 corner kicks while holding the Jimmies to none.
NDSU freshman goalkeeper Monica Polgar earned her third shutout of the season after surrendering no goals and making one save in 90 minutes to improve to 5-5-0 between the posts.
North Dakota State is scheduled to open Summit League play on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. at Omaha.
