Oral Roberts, Milos Turn Back NDSU 3-1

FARGO, N.D. -- Laura Milos connected for 30 kills, hit .419 and collected six service aces as Oral Roberts University defeated North Dakota State 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-18, 25-17) in a Summit League match played Sunday, Oct. 1, before 776 spectators at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse. The loss snapped the Bison eight-match winning streak.
NDSU (12-4, 3-1 SL) is scheduled to travel to Fort Wayne (8-11, 0-4 SL) for a 6 p.m. Central Time match Friday, Oct. 6. The Mastodons lost 3-2 to Omaha on Sunday.
Milos, who reached 2,000 career kills in the first set, kept the Golden Eagles (7-9, 4-0 SL) a step ahead during the match. She had plenty of help from CeCe Madison, who collected 16 kills and 17 digs, in the offensive-minded match. ORU outhit the Bison .285 to .250 for the match as Bria Bergman and Lucija Bojanjac combined for 52 assists.
Oral Roberts broke a 19-19 tie, the 11th deadlock in the first set and closed things out with a 6-2 run.
NDSU trailed 23-21 in the second set before rattling four straight points to claim the win. That set was also tied 11 times with three lead changes. Jessica Jorgensen and Brianna Rasmusson combined on two straight blocks, while Erika Gelzinyte and Jorgensen delivered kills.
Oral Roberts fell behind 6-1 in the third, but tied the match at 7 and 10. ORU took its first lead 11-10 on a Morgan Blomquist kill and steadily pulled away. Milos had 15 kills and five aces over the last two sets.
McKenzie Burke and Gelzinyte each had 11 kills, while Jorgensen added 10. Rasmusson finished with 41 assists and 12 digs. The Bison held a 9-7 edge in team led by Jorgensen with four, while Allie Mauch, Rasmusson and Gelzinyte each had three.
