Enerson Posts Personal-Best Decathlon Score for Runner-Up Finish at UC Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – North Dakota State sophomore Ryan Enerson led a group of six Bison decathletes who finished in the top 10 at the UC Riverside Spring Track Classic on Friday. Enerson totaled a personal-best 6,777 points to earn a runner-up finish.
NDSU junior Matt Neururer scored a personal-best 6,659 points to take fourth place, and Bison senior Angus Stoudt was fifth with 6,622. Freshmen Tony Ukkelberg (6,225) and Ben Klimpke (5,877) placed seventh and 10th, respectively, in their first career attempts at the decathlon.
Bison junior Matt Moberg joined Enerson and Neururer with a personal-best of his own, scoring 6,199 points for eighth place.
Enerson (Grand Forks, N.D.) used career-best performances in the discus and 1500m to climb the leaderboard on Day 2. He threw 128-1 (39.05m) in the discus for an improvement of more than 11 feet over his previous best, then capped the competition with a PR of 4:50.28 in the 1500m.
Enerson's score is the third-best by a Summit League athlete in the last three seasons, trailing only two performances by former Bison Brock Larson in 2016.
Neururer posted personal-best performances in the pole vault (13-09.25 / 4.20m) and javelin (149-5 / 45.55m) to propel himself to a new high score.
The UC Riverside Spring Track Classic will conclude on Saturday.
