NDSU Wrestler Clay Ream Earns CoSIDA Academic All-America® First Team Honors

AUSTIN, Texas – North Dakota State University redshirt junior 157-pounder and two-time NCAA Division I Wrestling Elite 90 Award winner Clay Ream was named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Men's At-Large First Team announced Thursday, June 8.
Ream becomes the second NDSU wrestler to receive CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors joining Steve Anderson, who was named to the men's at-large college division first team in 1986.
The native of Wentzville, Mo., has a 4.0 in biochemistry and molecular biology. Ream was named the Big 12 Conference Wrestling Scholar-Athlete of the Year and made his third straight appearance on National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Academic team. He is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 Wrestling first team selection.
Ream completed in his third NCAA tournament appearance with a 0-2 record. He is 3-6 overall in NCAA competition. Ream compiled a 24-6 record this season including a second place finish at the Big 12 Championships. He has a 71-38 record including 31-10 in duals with 15 pins.
To qualify for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, nominees must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, sophomore athletic and academic standing, and have completed at least one year at their current institution.
